Ludhiana/Punjab (September 26,2012): On Sunday September 30th the Canadian Sikh Coalition and Sikh Youth of America will be launching the “Free the Singh” Campaign to prevent further incarceration and torture of Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu, Bhai Kulbir Singh Barapind and others.

According to a statement issued from Vancouver, BC (Canada) the petitions would be signed in Gurudwara’s across North America followed by a letter writing campaign to politicians and human rights organizations nationally and internationally.

The Canadian Sikh Coalition and Sikh Youth of America have commenced the process to lobby human rights organizations to recognize these men as “Prisoners of Conscience”.

This statement was jointly issued by Canadian Sikh Coalition spokesperson Moninder Singh and Sikh Youth of America president Gurinderjit Singh.

“We shall regularly provide details on website www.canadiansikhcoalition.com“, Moninder Singh & Gurinderjit Singh told Sikh Siyasat.

Meanwhile, Sikh for Justice, a US based NGO has also initiated efforts to prevent torture on Sikh leadership. SJF has approached international human rights bodies like Amnesty International and Human rights watch in this matter.

According to information available with “Sikh Siyasat News” (SSN), Sikh Federation (UK), a UK based Sikh organization, has also started political lobby against “undemocratic” detention of Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu and Bhai Kulbir Singh Barapind.
