Amb Sahib, Mohali (December 23, 2013): On the 40th day of struggle to secure release of some Sikh political prisoners languishing in various jails in India despite having completed the sentences, the Sikh bodies organized a big gathering at Gurdwara Amb Sahib (Mohali), where a Haryana based Sikh Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa is on continuous hunger strike for last 40 days.
The gathering was attended by Sikh youth in large numbers besides the representatives of various panthic groups and social-religious bodies.
As per information the gathering was addressed by a number of speakers who strongly demanded immediate release of the concerned political prisoners.
Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khasla in his address emphasized that the cause of Sikh political prisoners was a national of Sikhs and all groups should put joint and honest efforts for the success of this struggle.
Meanwhile, marches from various parts of Punjab and adjoining states are reaching Gurdwara Amb Sahib (Mohali).
It is notable that the main demand Bandi Singh Rihai Morcha is release of 6 Sikh political prisoners namely Gurmeet Singh, Shamsher Singh, Lakhwinder Singh (in Burrail Jail), Lal Singh (released on parole from Nabha Jail), Wariam Singh (Bans Barely Jail, UP) and Gurdeep Singh Khaira (Gurbarga Jail, Karnatka).
As per Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) sources the case of three Sikh prisoners in Burrail jail has been processed for parole, while the UP government as processed the case of for release of Wariam Singh.
