Amritsar: A Sikh youth body named Sikh Youth Front (SYF) held ‘Sikh Unity March’ in Amritsar support of hunger strike of Gurbakhsh Singh Khalsa who is on continuous hunger strike since November 14 seeking the release of seven Sikh Detainees. The march that passed through various parts of Amritsar city was conducted by Sikh Youth Front in collaboration with Sikh Youth Federation Bhindranwala.
Sikh Youth Front general secretary Papalpreet Singh accused Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for adopting dual standards and petty playing politics on the issue of Sikh political prisoners. On the one hand Badal issuing appeals to other states seeking release of Sikh Prisoners but on the contrarily, Badal is not paying attention towards Hardeep Singh and Baj Singh, which are imprisoned in the Amritsar Jail since 1993. He said that Badal should order the release of these prisoners.
Sikh Youth Front media secretary Pritpal Singh said Political Parties should stop using Sikh issues as political stunts.
He said that motive of this march is not urging, but warning the Government to stop assaulting the Human Rights of Sikh political prisoners.
Shamsher Singh Koharhka (Distt. President, Tarn Taran) participated in the march with his team. Literature to aware the common citizens of Punjab about Government’s atrocities on Sikh Community, was distributed by the workers of Sikh Youth Front.
