Chittisinghpura Massacre

The “Wall of Truth” – the memorial having names of victims of the massacre of Sikhs in November 1984 – at Gurudwara Rakab Ganj near Indian Parliament will now become a memorial for all the Sikhs killed in hate crimes across the globe.
The Jammu and Kashmir High Court recently directed the state government to consider the representation by a Sikh petitioner seeking a probe into the killing of 35 Sikhs in Chattisinghpora area in March 2000 and pass appropriate orders within three months.
Apparently a serene place, this village in Shangus area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district cloaks many agonizing tales of March 20, 2000, massacre of 35 people of the minority Sikh community on the eve of then US president Bill Clinton’s visit to India.
Expressing concerns over the denial of justice to the victims and 15 years of impunity, senior leader of Hurriyat Conference Jammu and Kashmir and Chairman of National Front Nayeem Ahmad Khan has demanded impartial probe into Chattisinghpora massacre.
Srinagar, Kashmir: The Jammu and Kashmir high court on Monday sought response of the Centre and the state government on a petition seeking a probe into the killing of 35 Sikhs in Chattisinghpora area in March 2000.
Srinagar, Kashmir (March 22, 2014): The All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC), an umbrella body of Sikh organisations, has demanded a time-bound inquiry into Chittisinghpora Sikh massacre. It may be recalled that victims of this brutal massacre did get justice even after 14 years.
Kashmir/ Srinagar (February 04, 2014): Expressing dismay that Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah did not mention about the killing of 36 Sikhs at Chattisinghpora in March 2000 during his meeting with Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh of All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) yesterday (February 03) said that killings at Chattisinghpora are closely related with the Pathribal fake encounter and killing of civilians at Brakpora.

Anantnag, Kashmir (January 26, 2014): Terming the exoneration of Army officers involved in the Pathribal fake encounter as shameful, All Party Sikh Co-ordination Committee (APSCC) and the families of Chatisinghpora massacre victims sought investigation into the killing of 36 Sikhs in March 2000.
Jammu (January 26, 2014): As per media reports the Army has decided to close the thirteen year old infamous Pathribal fake encounter case in which five innocent persons were killed by the Indian Army and passed off as the terrorists responsible for the massacre of 36 Sikhs at Chittisinghpora.
