Fatehgarh Sahib (August 14, 2012) Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) President Avtar Singh Makkar has appointed Dr. Gurmohan Singh Walia as Officiating Vice-chanceller of SGPC owned Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib. He was working as SGPC's Director of Education.

Fatehgarh Sahib, (August 02, 2012): Jasbir Singh Ahluwalia is a controversial personality. He was sacked from the post of Vice-chancellor of Punjabi Univeristy, Patiala in 2002 due to criminal charges he was facing at that time. When Shiormani Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) decided to open a University named after Sikh Scripture, Sri Guru Granth Sahib (ji), Ahluwalia was given the responsibility to prepare the bule prints and superwise it's establishment.

Amritsar, Punjab (August 02, 2012): The Dal Khalsa has termed the suspension of Jasbir Singh Ahluwalia from the post of vice-chancellor of Guru Granth Sahib World University as ‘better late than never”. Party leader Kanwar Pal Singh said finally Jathedar Avtar Singh Makkar, president SGPC has shown him the door.

Amritsar, Punjab (July 31, 2012): As per media reports the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Commtitee (SGPC) has suspended Jasbir Singh Ahluwalia, vice chancellor of Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, on charges of irregularities on Tuesday. Certain media sections have quoted SGPC General Secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhaur saying that "J. S. Ahluwalia is suspended on charge of committing various irregularities and charge-sheet would be served to him soon ".
