On January 06, 2013 Bhai Kehar Singh and Bhai Satwant Singh were remembered by the Sikh nation on their martyrdom day. Akal Takhat Sahib, Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) and Sikh sangat observed their martyrdom day by organizing a function at Gurudwara Jhanda-Bunga Sahib near Sri Akal Takhat for three days.

Amritsar, Punjab (January 06, 2012): To mark the 24th martyrdom day of Bhai Satwant Singh and Bhai Kehar Singh, Jathedar of the Akal Takht bestowed honour on the near and dear ones of both the martyrs at Golden Temple today. Notably, both were hanged on this day 24 years ago for assassinating the then Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who ordered army attack on Darbar Sahib in June 1984.

Amritsar, Punjab (October 31,2012): In an annual ceremony held at Sri Akal Takhat Sahib homage was paid to Shaheed Bhai Beant Singh. Bhai Beant Singh had punished Indian prime minister Indira Gandhi for ordering attack on various Sikh Gurudwaras, including Sri Darbar Sahib Amritsar in June 1984.

The release of the directory, this time significantly coincides with the commencement of the Kar Sewa by the Damdami Taksal to raise the memorial to these very martyrs.

Sri Amritsar, Punjab (March 23, 2012): Sri Akal Takhat Sahib today declared Bhai Dilawar Singh as "National Martyr of the Sikh Nation", and Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana is awarded the title of "living martyr of the Sikh Nation". Five Jathedars have directed Punjab Chief Minister and Badal Dal Patron Parkash Singh Badal and Sukhbir Singh Badal (President of Badal Dal) and Avtar Singh Makkar President of Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee to meet President of India and seek release of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana and convey sentiments of the Sikh nation to the Indian state.

SGPC’s committee submits report for construction of memorial for Ghallughara June 1984

Amritsar, Punjab (December 02, 2011): A committee constituted by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) is reported to have finalized the palace to build a memorial for attack on Darbar Sahib, Amritsar (also called the Golden Temple of Sri Amritsar) by Indian Army in June 1984, which was code-named by Indian State as "Operation Blue Star".

Khalra Centre for Human Rights Defenders inaugurated in Delhi

New Delhi, India (November 21, 2011): The Human Rights Law Network (HRLN) and the World Sikh Organization of Canada (WSO) announced the inauguration of the Khalra Centre for Human Rights Defenders in New Delhi, which is named after legendary martyr of Human Rights - Jaswant Singh Khalra, during a conference held in collaboration with other human rights groups from across India on November 19th and 20th.

Sikh bodies constitute 1984 memorial panel

Jalandhar (July 08, 2011): Though once again welcoming the formation of the five-member panel by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parabandhak Committee (SGPC) to decide about space and shape of the June 1984 Memorial, the Panthic organisations on Friday claimed that the SGPC has done little in this regard — The panel was constituted on June 8 and was scheduled to submit its report on August 8 but is yet to hold a meeting.

Jandiala/Amritsar (September 26, 2010): Bhai Sukhdev Singh and Harjinder Singh, commonly known as Bhai Sukha-Jinda, shall be remembered on 10 October, 2010 at Village Gadhli, near Jandiala Guru in Amritsar District of Punjab. Duo were sentenced to death for assessinating former Army chief of India, Arun Vaidya, who headed the Indian Army in June 1984, when Sri Darbar Sahib (Amritsar), also known as the Golden Temple, was attacked by it.
