New York, USA (January 18, 2014): India's Congress party has filed a motion before the US Federal Court of Southern District of New York seeking dismissal of a human rights violation case relating to Sikh Genocide 1984.
Washington, DC (January 18, 2014): It is learnt that on January 8, 2014, the Sikh Coalition—in partnership with the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty and the law firm McDermott Will & Emery—organized a Congressional briefing to highlight ongoing challenges faced by Sikhs who wish to serve in the U.S. military.

Chandigarh/ Punjab (January 18, 2014): It is learnt that the Akal Takht has decided to bestow the title of National Professor of Sikhism on Dr Kirpal Singh, a Sikh historian and author of several books. The title will be bestowed upon him early next week by Giani Gurbachan Singh, Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib.
