Sacramento, California (May 17, 2014): The Interfaith Council of Greater Sacramento (ICGS) announced on Wednesday (May 14, 2014) its endorsement of a U.S. House resolution which makes religious freedom and human rights issues the focus of American talks with India, stating in a letter: “We are persuaded of the importance of House Resolution 417 (known hereafter as H.Res. 417) because it will equitably uplift people of all faiths, while specifically calling for justice for minority communities victimized by religiously-motivated violence.”
New Delhi, India (May 17, 2014): After the annoucement of Lok Sabha Elections results the Congress party is facing worst position in post-1947 history. The party that ruled India for long terms after the 1947 partition, was able secure 44 seats only.
Bibi Kamaldeep Kaur was able to secure only 15,313 votes from Patiala Lok Sabha seat. She ended up at 4th position.
Amritsar, Punjab (May 17, 2014): What seemed to be a close fight before polling turned out to be a one-sided contest with Congress candidate Amarinder Singh registering an win by a margin of more than 1 lakh votes. BJP's Arun Jaitly was defeated from seven of the total nine Assembly segments of the constituency.
Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab (May 17, 2014): Former MP Harinder Singh Khalsa was one of the last candidates announced by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab. Former IFS officer, who served as Indian diplomat at Norway, was previously elected as the Member of Indian Parliament from Bathinda seat in 1996 on the ticket of Shiromani Akali Dal.
Bathinda, Punjab (May 17, 2014): Singer-actor Jasraj Singh Longia alias Jassi Jasraj ended up at third place in a battle that was totally occupied by contest between Badal clan's heavy weight Harsimrat Badal and family rebel Manpreet Badal, who was contesting election on Congress party's symbol.
Hoshiarpur, Punjab (May 17, 2014): Terming the Modi wave as nothing but radicalization of Indian polity, the Dal Khalsa observed that the majority community has handed over the reigns of power to a person whose credentials and approach towards the minorities is questionable.

Bathinda, Punjab (May 17, 2014): Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) candidate Harsimrat Badal was able to retain her seat from Lok Sabha elections 2014.
Bathinda, Punjab (May 17, 2014): Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) leader and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal managed to retain her seat by defeating her nearest rival, Manpreet Badal by a margin of 19395 votes.
