1984 remains one of the darkest years in modern Indian history. In June of that year, Prime Minister Indira Gandhi ordered a military assault on the most significant religious center for the Sikhs, Darbar Sahib (i.e., the Golden Temple) in Amritsar, Punjab. The attack killed thousands of civilians. On October 31, 1984, Mrs. Gandhi was assassinated by two of her Sikh bodyguards.
New Delhi, India: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has reportedly sought explanation from the BJP government for deciding on a fresh compensation for victims of anti-Sikh pogrom victims during the model code of conduct because of by-polls in the three assembly segments in Delhi.
Amritsar, Punjab: The All India Sikh Students Federation has issued an appeal to the people of Punjab to observe Punjab Bandh - complete Punjab shut down on 1 November 2014 to protest against denial of justice to the victims of November 1984 Sikh Genocide.
London, UK: The genocidal pogroms against the Sikh people in India in November 1984 left thousands dead. In many of the outer areas of the capital, New Delhi, whole neighbourhoods were wiped out. Women were raped in large numbers. Senior politicians of the Congress (I) party led mobs, assisted by the police and administration.
Washington, DC: The U.S. Department of Justice has released a new Punjabi-language fact sheet to help Sikh American parents protect their children against school bullying.
Amritsar, Punjab: An annual function at Gurdwara Jhanda Bunga Sahib, near Akal Takht Sahib, in Darbar Sahib complex marked 30th martyrdom day of Shaheed Beant Singh who had laid his life to punish Indian prime minister Indira Gandhi for her offensive against the Sikh nation.
Bangalore, India: Another Bangalore schools is in news and again for a wrongful reason. Another shameful incident of child abuse is reported from a Bangalore school. The abused is none else but a teacher. A six year old girl was sexually assaulted twice by a teacher at The Indiranagar Cambridge School in Bangalore. It’s fifth such incident reported from City schools since July 2014.

Amritsar, Punjab: Troubles for Bollywood mega star Amitabh Bachchan grows further on Wednesday after All India Sikh Students Federation (Peermohammad) not only demanded to book a criminal case against the star for allegedly raising provocative slogan on October 31st , 1984 but also appealed to people to boycott his TV shows and films.
