Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has warned the makers of the upcoming Hindi movie flying Jatt to drop highly objectionable scenes from the movie.
The Allahabad High Court yesterday allowed four weeks to the Uttar Pradesh Government to file a reply on the issue of withdrawal of criminal case against 42 Pilibhit jail staff who killed seven TADA prisoners in the jail and seriously injured another 21.
Rights body Sikhs For Justice (SFJ), which had earlier managed to block Punjab Congress president captain Amarinder Singh's canvassing among Punjabi NRIs in Canada for ensuing Punjab assembly election by filing a complaint with Canadian authorities, has now filed a defamation suit of one million dollars against him in Canada for linking the body to Pakistan's ISI.
A day after his suspension from the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), Jalandhar Cant. MLA Pargat Singh held a press conference at Jalandhar yesterday. He criticised Badal Dal president Sukhbir Badal, terming him as a “visionless leader who takes decisions as per his own whims and fancies”.
It is yet too soon to know how the process of dialogue with the Modi Government will proceed. However there is considerable apprehension among some Sikh groups who have been struggling for Sikh self determination since 1984. It is only right to address concerns and explain what these talks are all about.
“They want to keep the pot boiling” is a charge that comes up very often at the University of Hyderabad. As a new academic year begins, the fear is that July 2016 could to be headed the way of July 2015.
