In an apparent damage control exercise the Chamoli district police posted a video on Facebook page titled Chamoli Police later this evening in which a police officer said that there was no official orders to the Uttrakhand police to remove the Sikh flags from vehicles of Sikh Yatris.

Thousands of Sikh Yatris visit Gurdwara Hemkunt Sahib every Summer. As a part of tradition these carry Nishan Sahib on their vehicles.
