Baba Bakala: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has reportedly suspended two of party’s four MPs Dharamvira Gandhi (Patiala) and Harinder Singh Khalsa (Fatehgarh Sahib) for alleged anti-party activities.

Aam Aadmi Party’s Punjab convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur has reportedly confirmed the suspension of MPs. Chhotepur said that the Dharamvira Gandhi and Harinder Singh Khalsa were suspended as per AAP convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejirwal’s command.

“Both MPs today held a parallel rally at Baba Bakala despite our several requests that this would amount to anti-party activity. Besides they have been openly critical of both the central as well state leadership for quite some time despite being told to refrain from it on several occasions. The central leadership has issued a show-cause notice to both of them to explain why strict disciplinary action should not be taken against them for openly going against the party leadership”, said Sucha Singh Chhotepur.

Meanwhile, AAP’s spokesperson Deepak Bajpai said that the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) has referred disciplinary proceedings against the two MPs to the National Disciplinary Action Committee.

“In its meeting on Saturday, the PAC took cognizance of anti-party activities indulged in by Gandhi and Khalsa in Punjab. In a unanimous decision, the PAC suspended Khalsa and Gandhi from the party and referred their cases to the National Disciplinary Action Committee,” Bajpai said adding that all PAC members except Kumar Vishwas were present in the meeting.

“Now the three-member NDAC, with Pankaj Gupta, Dilip Pandey and me as its members, will look into the complaints of indiscipline and anti-party activities against Gandhi and Khalsa,” he added.

Bajpai charged Gandhi and Khalsa with involvement “in the activities of certain outfits, opposed to aims and objectives of the party”.

“The only aim of these outfits is to damage the party and anti-corruption movement in the country,” he said, adding that there are several instances that show that Gandhi and Khalsa were trying to establish a parallel organization with the sole objective of damaging the party in Punjab.

On the other hand MPs Dharamvira Gandhi and Harinder Singh Khalsa had been accusing Delhi bosses of Aam Aadmi Party for running AAP state unit on their alleged dictatorial lines.
