‘Bandi Singhs Rihai March’ from Akal Takht Sahib to Amb Saib Mohali – Appeal to join the march

Amritsar, Punjab (December 04, 2013): The Sikh organizations, with the held of Sikh sangats of Punjab shall take out a march from Akal Takht Sahib to Amb Sahib (Mohali) today to spread awareness about the cause of Sikh prisoners who are not being released from various Indian jails despite serving the terms of their sentences.

Bandi Singh Rihai MarchAccording to certain sources the Punjab police has arrested Bhai Kanwar Pal Singh Bittu, Spokesperson of the Dal Khalsa but it was not confirmed that if his arrest was carried in wake of today’s march.

Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema, acting president of Akali Dal Panch Pardhani (ADPP) told Sikh Siyasat News that there was no reports of any other arrests.

“Representatives of various Sikh organizations have reached at Akal Takht Sahib while others are expected to reach shortly. The march shall begin on it’s scheduled time” Bhai Cheema told SSN over phone.

“Sarabjeet Singh Ghuman of Dal Khasla told us that the police has arrested Bhai Kanwar Pal Singh Bittu and we condemn his arrest. These cheep tactics of the Punjab government could not fail the determination of the Sikh sangat” he added.

ADPP leaders Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema, Bhai Amrik Singh Isru and AISSF (Peermohammad) president Karnail Singh Peermohammad has appealed to the Sikhs sangats to join the march to highlight the cause of “bandi Singhs”.

It is notable that Bhai Gurbaksh Singh is on hunger strike since November 14 seeking release of five Singhs, namely – Bhai Gurmit Singh, Bhai Shamsher Singh, Bhai Lakhwinder Singh (who are confined in Burail Jail, Chandigarh since 1995), Bhai Lal Singh (who was arrested in 1992 by Gujarat police and is currently confined in Nabha, Maximum Security Jail) and Bhai Gurdip Singh (who is confined in Gurbarg Jail, Karnataka for the last 23 years). These individuals have served their terms of sentence but have not been released by the respective state governments.
