Amritsar: Panth Sewak Bhai Daljit Singh has issued a written statement after Bhai Narien Singh Chauras action on SAD (Badal) leader Sukhbir Singh Badal.

Here is full text of the statement in verbatim:-
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa,
Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
The shot fired by Bhai Narain Singh outside the parkarma of Sri Darbar Sahib near the Ghanta Ghar Darshani Deorhi on 19 Maghar, 556 Nanakshahi, while Sukhbir Singh Badal was serving as a barsha bardar (armed guard) under the protection of 175 Indian security forces, is a matter that calls for serious reflection.
Some Sikhs have expressed objections to the time and place of the action carried out by Bhai Narain Singh. Bhai Narain Singh is a wise, courageous, sangrami (active/warrior), and selfless individual dedicated to the Khalsa Panth, who can best explain his choice of time and place to carry out the action.
Considering the broader political conditions around us, it is clear that Sikhs are going through a critical phase characterized by Indias transnational repression, as well as the rapidly transforming geopolitical circumstances. In light of these circumstances, internal friction amongst Sikhs has the potential to further complicate the scenario and increase the challenges we face. In terms of political strategy, Sikhs should avoid internal conflict where possible.
Bhai Narain Singhs actions did not arise all of a sudden or out of some whim or emotion, nor can they be understood through the binaries of right and wrong. The background of this incident revolves around the long history over the last 5 decades, where the Badal Dal and other factions who call themselves Akali, have consistently betrayed Guru Granth, Guru Khalsa Panth, and Punjab.
Sukhbir Badal himself admitted to committed a number of gunaah (crimes) before Sri Akal Takht Sahib, including:
- Cooperating with, and even supporting and protecting, the Guru dokhi Sirsa cultist and oppressive police officers who are responsible for both sookham (subtle/unseen) and physical attacks directly on Sri Guru Granth Sahib and the Guru Khalsa Panth. The attacks on Sri Guru Granth Sahib range from impersonating Guru Patshah and undermining Shabad Guru, all the way to the intolerable physical beadbi of Sri Guru Granth Sahib jee.
- Undermining the supremacy of Sri Akaal Takhat Singh by engineering the false pardon for the Sirsa cultist (Gurmeet Ram Rahim).
- Undermining and damaging the dharmik (spiritual) authority of SGPC by misusing its resources for political gain.
- Neglecting Panthic issues entirely and turning the Akali Dal into a Punjabi party.
Aside from these admissions, his actions to repeatedly sacrifice Des Punjabs interests for his own political gains has yet to be accounted for.
Given this holistic context, the collective responsibility for everything that transpired on 19 Maghar rests squarely on the shoulders of the past and current leadership of the Badal Dal, as well as the current Jathedars whose flimsy response to the grave crimes that had been acknowledged fall drastically short of Panthic standards and expectations.
The 19 Maghar incident, executed by a steadfast Sikh dedicated to the Panth, should have been a cause of serious self-reflection and contemplation for the Badal Dal, all Sikhs, and the Khalsa Panth; but ironically, the leaders of the Badal Dal tried to vilify the Kharhku movement (armed struggle) of the Khalsa Panth immediately exposing their facade of dramatized atonement. The extent to which Badal Dal has gone to appease the ruling BJP demonstrates that they have no understanding of our current political circumstances, nor have they learned anything from their past mistakes.
The SGPC executive committees decision to ask the very Jathedars they appointed to excommunicate Bhai Narain Singh from the Khalsa Panth is deplorable, and should immediately be rejected. This step taken by the SGPC illustrates thatnot only is it not neutral, but it continues to operate under the command of morally unfit leaders who are coercing and misusing the Jathedars of the Takht Sahibs to serve the political interests of the Badal Dal. This is exactly what happened in the matter of granting a pardon to the Sauda Saadh in 2015. The Badal Dal is still making the exact same mistakes, for which they have been rejected by Sikhs. This is a clear indicator of their arrogance and the main reason for their marginalization.
The rhetoric of the Badal Dal leaders, the resolution by the SGPC to excommunicate Bhai Chaurha from the Khalsa Panth, and the aimless decision made by the Jathedars have only served to increase the internal friction among Sikhs even further. By doing this, all of them are collectively fulfilling the BJP’s agenda of enlarging the internal rifts between Sikhs.
The role of the BJP in amplifying the narrative of reviving the Akali Dal should not be underestimated either. The BJP has been the primary driver of this entire process, and this reality should not be overlooked in any way. It must be noted that instead of mobilizing the entire Khalsa Panth, the Jathedars started the exercise of reviving and coordinating those factions of the Badal Dal, which were already aligned with the BJP. Although the Badal family is a participant in unforgivable crimes, they are not the only ones responsible for them. Badal Dal’s so-called rebels (Daaghi-Baaghi) are also responsible for these offenses.
Therefore, the ongoing efforts to re-establish this party simply by changing faces (ie. the Badals), without any structural or policy changes, is simply an exercise to realign this party with the BJPs central government. Those Sikhs who feel encouraged by the decisions of the Jathedars and want to rebuild the Akali Dal along the same lines must reflect on the entirety of the circumstances and pull back. The current crisis faced with Sikh electoral politics and Panthic politics, more broadly, cannot be addressed by merely reestablishing a single electoral party. The need of the hour is to recognize and work towards the actualization and mobilization of the four pillars of panthic rajneeti today:
- Reinstating the sovereignty authority of the Takhat Sahiban;
- Establishing an autonomous system of gurdwara management independent of any electoral political parties;
- Coordinating Sikh electoral politics that take place subordinate to any other worldly power; and
- Galvanizing the ongoing sangarsh (struggle) to create a sovereign political structure rooted in Khalsa Jee Ke Bol Baale.
