Discord Over Aam Aadmi Party Ticket To RSS Man from Anandpur Sahib

Chandigarh: The decision of the Punjab unit of Aam Adami Party AAP to field a former RSS leader from the Anandpur Sahib Assembly constituency has raised eyebrows among various sections, besides triggering Chaos in the party’s local unit.

Sanjeev Gautam, a homeopath from Nangal, was reportedly an RSS leader in Ropar district for several years who before joining AAP last year.
An English vernacular has referred to undisclosed sources to report that Sanjeev Gautam was district incharge of one of the sections of the Ropar’s RSS unit. “He was looking after the samparak (relations) department of the Pro Hindu body,” said a senior state BJP leader, wishing not to be named, who has worked with Gautam.
Sanjeev Gautam has reportedly confirmed that he was an active member of the RSS, but allegedly denied that he had any leadership role or big responsibility in the organisation. “I worked in the RSS as well as in the BJP, but that is over now,” he maintained.
“By fielding a former RSS worker, the leadership has betrayed the people of the area,” said AAP leader from Anandpur Sahib Gurinder Singh Gogi, Gautam had joined Manpreet Badal’s People’s Party of Punjab in 2012. Later, he left the PPP to join the Congress and in March this year, he joined AAP.
