The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), long controlled by the Badal dynasty, has significantly lost credibility among the Sikh community. The reputation of the Takht Sahibaan and their Jathedars has also suffered setbacks under the current system. This decline has led to serious introspection among Sikhs, with increasing calls for reforms to restore the lost credibility and sanctity of these key institutions. One of the prominent ideas emerging is the creation of an autonomous system for the Takht Sahibaan, independent of the SGPC or any other statutory body. However, not all voices support this view. Bibi Kiranjot Kaur offers a contrasting perspective, arguing that the SGPC represents a modern form of Sarbat Khalsa. This claim, however, is highly contested—especially given the current circumstances. To bring forward various viewpoints, Sikh Siyasat is hosting a series of discussions focused on the current situation of the SGPC, the governance of the Takht Sahibaan, and the process of appointing and removing Jathedars. In previous episodes, journalist Mandeep Singh interviewed former Jathedar Bhai Ranjit Singh (Panthic Akali Lehar), Bhai Baldev Singh Wadala (Sikh Sadbhavna Dal), and Bhai Narien Singh Chaura. In this episode, he speaks with Bibi Kiranjot Kaur to further explore the debate.
