November 6, 2017 | By

Ludhiana: The Ludhiana police today produced Harbinder Singh s/o Balwant Singh r/o Partap Nagar (Amritsar) before a local court in FIR No. 271/17 (PS Division No. 7). The court of Judicial Magistrate (First Class) Devnoor Singh sent him on police remand for two days.

Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) that Harbinder Singh was lodged in Maximum Security Jail in Nabha since June 2017 under FIR No. 110/17 registered by Mohali police.

“The recent case 271/17 by Division No. 7 (Ludhiana) pertains to recent arrest of some Sikh youth by Ludhiana police” said Advo. Manjhpur.

The police has also secured production warrants of Amritpal Kaur r/o Ludhiana but she could not be produced before the court due to her jail transfer to Central Jail in Patiala. It is expected that the police may bring Amritpal Kaur on production warrants in this case in coming days, he added.

It is notable that since the formation of Congress government in Punjab a number of cases have been registered against Sikh youth. The statements of the police, reveal that most of these cases are based on ‘social media audit’ by the Punjab police.
