Chandigarh: Punjab-based social activists Amitoj Mann, Advocate Navkiran Singh, Khushinder Singh, Kulwinder Mann, Mahinder Pal, Prabhjot Kaur and Gaurav Rana announced the formation of a new political party, Punjab Sanjhivalta Dal, on September 23, 2026, at Ravi Hall, Kisan Bhawan, Sector 35, Chandigarh.
Sharing the party’s preliminary agenda with the people of Punjab, the leaders said that the state’s traditional political parties do not have a clear policy for Punjab’s development or for addressing the major issues confronting the state.
The party leaders described the released agenda as the first part of its policy document and said it covers a range of issues related to Punjab. They said suggestions and consultations would be sought from the people of Punjab for the next part of the agenda, following which the party would release its final document.

According to the party leaders, Punjab has long faced neglect at the political and administrative levels, while unemployment, drug abuse, the agrarian crisis, corruption and other socio-economic problems have emerged as serious challenges in the state.
They said Punjab, which was once counted among the leading states of the country, now requires serious discussion over its present situation and the issues affecting its future.
Referring to Punjab’s historical and political context, the party leaders said that the state suffered enormous loss of life and property during the Partition of 1947. They said Punjab subsequently rebuilt itself and made a significant contribution to the country’s economy.
The leaders said issues concerning Punjab’s reorganisation, its capital, river waters and other state-related matters have remained at the centre of Punjab politics for decades. The party’s agenda has also highlighted issues concerning the capital, the Bhakra Dam and river waters following the reorganisation of Punjab in 1966.
The Punjab Sanjhivalta Dal said that the next part of its agenda would be prepared after consultations and discussions with the people of Punjab.
The party has described the document released at present as an initial draft for discussion and policy formulation rather than its final election manifesto.
