New Delhi: Convicted Indian politician Sajjan Kumar today (Dec. 22) moved the Supreme Court challenging his conviction in a case related to 1984 Sikh Genocide by the Delhi High Court. The High Court had reversed his acquitted by a CBI court and awarded him imprisonment for life. The High Court had told Sajjan Kumar to surrender himself before the authorities before December 31.

Senior advocate HS Phoolka, who is representing the victims and survivors of the 1984 Sikh genocide in this case, said he has been conveyed by the SCI registry that Sajjan Kumar has filed an appeal against the high court’s judgement.

He said the victims had already filed a caveat to pre-empt any ex-parte hearing in favour of Sajjan Kumar.

The high court had yesterday rejected Sajjan Kumar’s plea seeking an extension of time till January 30 to surrender for serving his punishment.
