Bandi Singhs Rihai Sangharsh Committee

Akal Takhat Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh today said that he cannot take back Fakar-e-Qaum award from Prakash Singh Badal.
A delegation of the Bandi Singhs Rihai Sangharsh Committee, formed to spearhead the movement for the release of Sikh political prisoners, yesterday met Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh and demanded the withdrawal of “Fakhr-e-Qaum” title bestowed upon Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
Sukhbir Badal, Deputy CM of Punjab and chief of ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) said that the Punjab government has done everything possible and worked beyond it's capacity on the issue of Sikh political prisoners but some people were working irresponsible to miss guide the people of Punjab on this issue.
A Sikh delegation comprising representatives of various organisations on Aug. 7 handed over a memorandum at Punjab Bhawan seeking Punjab Governor's intervention to stop harassment of Sikh leaders and activists by the Punjab government and the Punjab Police.
Majority of Sikh activists who were arrested in Wednesday's (Aug. 5) crackdown by the police were released on Thursday (Aug. 06).
In a surprise move a hashtag #PakWithBapuSuratSingh began to trend on Twitter on Pakistan. It is learnt that a number of people are using this hashtag to express their solidarity and support for Bapu Surat Singh who is demanding release of Sikh political prisoners who have served their minimum mandatory jail terms.
Representatives of various Sikh organisations held a meeting at Ludhiana to discuss the issue of Sikh political prisoners. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar (Mann), United Akali Dal, Akali Dal 1920, Dal Khalsa, Ek Noor Khalsa Fauj and some members of Bandi Singhs Rihai Sangharsh Committee.
Deadlock on the issue of Sikh political prisoners continues as the main leaders of Bandi Singhs Rihai Sangharsh Committee remain behind the bars and Bapu Surat Singh is kept under intensive care at ICU ward of DMC hospital.
Deadlock continues on the issue of Sikh political prisoners issue at talks between Punjab police and Bandi Singhs Rihai Sangharsh Committee remain inconclusive. The Punjab police today brought Sangharsh Committee leaders from various jails to Ludhiana to hold negotiations.
As per information available with the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) various leader of Bandi Singhs Riahi Sangharsh Committee, who were detained by Punjab police two days back, we've been brought to Civil Hospital Ludhiana today by the Punjab police.
