Amritsar, Punjab: Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) president Avtar Singh Makkar said that Sirsa based Dera Sauda should refrain from using "Gurbani" or anything related to "Guru-maryada" in it's film. While talking to media persons at Amritsar, Avtar Singh Makkar said that SGPC has learnt that Dera Sauda Sirsa was making a movie.
According to information available with the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN), a Bathinda court today dismissed a 2007 Salabatpura case against Dera Sauda Sirsa (DSS) chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim. The case was got registered by a Bathinda resident Ranjinder Singh Sidhu in 2007 after the Sirsa based cult's activities had triggered huge controversy.
Situation turned awkward for Dera Sauda Sirsa head Gurmeet Ram Rahim in a Panchkula court, few days back, when a defence witness, who had come to defend the controversial godman in a rape case, got confused and even "failed" to identify dera chief.
Bathinda, Punjab (May 24, 2014): Controversial self-styled godman and Sirsa-based Dera Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim has reportedly been directed to appear in a Bathinda court on August 8 in a case relating to hurting of religious sentiments of the Sikhs. The case relates to the Salabatpura incident and dates back to May 2007, but there has been no significant development in this case for last seven years.
It is learnt that a Mansa trial court today acquitted 10, including Sikh leader Bhai Daljit Singh and Akali Dal Panch Pardhani (ADPP) general secretary Bhai Mandhir Singh in Dera follower Lilly Sharma's murder case. While rejecting police version of the case the Additional Sessions Judge held them not guilty. But the judge convicted three other persons who against whom some dera followers had deposed.
Jalandhar, Punjab (April 23, 2014): Dal Khalsa has demanded that either Sukhbir Singh Badal should resign as SAD president or file a criminal defamation case against former DGP (jails) Shashi Kant within 24 hours in the wake of Kant alleging Sukhbir's mysterious role in engineering the bloody clash between Sirsa Dera and Sikh community to fetch votes.
Jalandhar, Punjab (April 23, 2014): Former Punjab DGP (Jails) Shashi Kant, who recently joined Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), reportedly said Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal had asked him for mapping of 'Premis', the followers of Dera Sacha Sauda, and the information was used for a conspiracy to create a rift between the Sikhs and Dera Sacha Sauda.
Sirsa, Haryana (April 14, 2014): It is learnt that sitting MP and Congress party's candidate from Patiala Preneet Kaur recently visited the Sirsa based controversial dera to seek “blessings” of self-styled godman and dera head Gurmeet Ram Rahim.
Moga, Punjab (March 30, 2014): As per information 14 followers of Dera Sauda Sirsa have been acquitted by a local court in a case of causing damage to public property in 2010.
Panchkula (March 3, 2014): As per media reports Gurmeet Ram Rahim, a self-styled godman and head of Sirsa based controversial Dera, who has been facing criminal charges including rape, abduction, murder and sexual exploitation of Sadhvis, has submitted a list of 98 defence witnessed in a CBI court.
Chandigarh/ Punjab (March 03, 2014): In fresh trouble for the controversial head of Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda (DSS), Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who is facing charges of forced castration of his followers inside the dera, the Haryana government on Friday (Feb. 28) confirmed that his seven former associates were castrated.
Bathinda, Punjab (February 27, 2014): In a recent media interaction Dr. Sumail Singh Sidhu, convenor of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)'s election campaign in Punjab claimed that his party has support of Dera Sacha Sauda (Sirsa) followers in Punjab.
Dabwali, Punjab (February 25, 2014): In July 2013 a Sirsa Court sentenced seven Sikhs to undergo seven years imprisonment each in a 2008 case related to clash between Dera Sauda Sirsa followers and the Sikh sangat. Bhai Harmandar Singh Dabwali was killed by dera followers on 18 July 2008, following which some shops of Dera Sauda Sirsa followers were allegedly burnt by agitated Sikhs.
Haryana (February 24, 2014): As per inforamtion controversial self-styled godman and Dera Sauda Sirsa chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim has submitted a list of 98 defence witnesses in rape case against him before the CBI special court, Haryana. The list was submitted on last date of hearing of the case on February 22.
Panchkula (February 14, 2014): It is learnt that controversial self-styled godman and Dera Sauda Sirsa head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Insan, who is facing rape and murder charges, has told Panchkula court that he is not mentally and physically fit to have sexual intercourse.
Chandigarh/ Punjab (February 05, 2014): It is learnt that the Punjab and Haryana High Court, on February 04, gave last opportunity to Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh to file his reply on charges of forced castration of his followers inside the dera. The Dera head has been asked to respond on the issue in the next hearing scheduled on February 24.
Dhudike/ Moga, Punjab (November 26, 2013): Following the tension that prevailed in Dhudike village of Moga district between followers of Dera Sauda Sirsa and the local Sikhs, the police administration has reportedly targeted Sikhs on the complaint of dera followers. It is notable that the police had resorted to firing in the air, lathicharge and bursting of teargas shells to disperse members of both groups following and altercation between the two groups.
Moga, Punjab (November 26, 2013): It is learnt that the situation at village Dhudike (district Moga) took serious turn after Dera Sauda Sirsa followers attempted to hold a gathering despite opposition from the local Sikhs. It is notable that the Sikh sangat is opposing the dera sauda activities since 2007 in accordance with directive issued by Akal Takht Sahib in wake of anti-Sikh activities of the Dera Sauda Sirsa (DSS) chief.
Suman, Punjab (October 01, 2013): It is learnt that on September 30, 2013 a trial court of Sunam acquitted 14 Dera Sauda Sirsa followers in Bhai Kamaljit Singh Sunam's murder case.
Dabwali/Sirsa (July 29, 2013): A court of additional sessions and district judge of Sirsa has pronounced it's decision in a 2008 case related to a Dabwali incident, where a clash had took place between the Dera Sauda Sirsa followers and the Sikhs. The court has reportedly sentenced seven Sikhs to under go imprisonment of 7 years each.
