Punjab Police Encounter

A memorial gathering for Bhai Jaswant Singh Khalra in Amritsar called for the release of records on the army assault on Sri Darbar Sahib and alleged fake police encounters, an independent inquiry and the release of Sikh prisoners.
On International Human Rights Day 2026, the Sikh Siyasat presents this exclusive documentary narrating the hereto untold story of those survivors who were used as "human shields" during the 1992 encounter between Sikh kharkus and the Punjab police, BSF and other Indian forces.
Punjab is currently passing through a highly sensitive phase. With rapidly shifting international and regional dynamics, South Asia’s geopolitical fault lines are directly impacting the region.
In a joint statement issued today, the Panch Pardhani Panthak Jatha, comprising Panth Sewak personalities, expressed grave concern over the growing trend of police encounters in Punjab, particularly the recent surge in the killing of young individuals. The Jatha emphasized that portraying these deaths as “successes” poses a serious threat to human rights in the state.
