Sikh Genocide Survivors

A new book titled “Sikh Nasalkushi 1984” (Sikh Genocide 1984) tracks the footprints of genocidal violence against Sikhs across India during 1984. Sikhs were subjected to genocidal violence and massacres across India after the execution of the then Indian prime minister Indira Gandhi on 31 October 1984.
In November 1984 Sikhs were subjected to genocidal massacres throughout the Indian subcontinent. Bokaro was one of the worst hit areas where Sikh families were brutally targeted with genocidal violence. Around a hundred Sikhs were killed in Bokaro in initial days of the month of November in 1984.
Sacramento, California: After the issue of 1984 violence against Sikhs in India haunted the Congressional election of Ami Bera, Rights group “Sikhs For Justice” (SFJ) have now approached Hon. Jerry Brown, Governor, State of California asking him to declare 1984 anti-sikh violence as “Genocide”. The State of California has the highest Sikh population in the United States and has recently made 1984 issue a part of mid-term Congressional election debate.
Thirty years have passed since the pogroms of Sikhs in India. During the first week of November 1984, police, politicians, and government leaders organized and implemented pogroms against Sikhs throughout the country.
Hisar, Haryana (February 01, 2014): It is learnt that Justice TP Garg, inquiring into the 1984 Sikh carnage in Hondh Chillar village of Rewari (Haryana), has completed first phase of investigation.

New Delhi, India (December 10, 2013): On World Human Rights Day, Sikh groups submitted a Memorandum to Ms. Lisa Grande, UN Resident Coordinator-India, urging her to report to the Human Rights Council about Congress party’s ongoing practice of protecting and rewarding its leaders who lead death squads in 1984.
