Sikh lawyer, Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur has rebutted claims of Punjab DGP Sumedh Saini regarding the issue of premature release of Sikh Political Prisoners.
A press release by the World Sikh Council - America Region (WSC-AR) says that the organization was extremely saddened by the barbaric act of violence on the Charlie Hebdo office in downtown Paris, France on January 7, 2015.
As Punjab government sought release of Sikh political prisoners, the Home Ministry fo India yesterday indicated that ‘legal opinion could be taken in select cases like old people’ and those having completed 20 years in prison but not ‘those convicted in serious charges’.
Various Sikh groups have given a 'Punjab Bandh' (Punjab Shutdown) call on January 10 to extend support to Sikh activist Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa who is on an indefinite hunger strike for last 57 days (since Nov. 14, 2014) demanding release of Sikh political prisoners are jailed in various states of Indian subcontinent even after completing jail terms.
