Chandigarh: In a letter written to Bhai Dhian Singh Mand, Bhai Amrik Singh Ajnala and Bhai Baljeet Singh Daduwal Sikh political prisoner Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara tendered his resignation as Jathedar of Akal Takhat Sahib. Bhai R P Singh of Akhand Kirtani Jatha said that the letter that surfaced over social media is authentic.
“The letter and its content is authentic. It’s written by Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara”, said Bhai R P Singh.

Notably, Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara was declared to be Jathedar of Akal Takhat Sahib during November 10, 2015 Panthic gathering at village Chabba near TarnTaran.
In his letter Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara has requested acting Jathedars to not to use his name as Jathedar. He has also distanced himself from December 10 Talwandi Sabo gathering announced by acting Jathedars and Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar (Mann) and United Akali Dal (UAD).
