Sirdar Bikkar Singh Hongkong has spent the past 27 years researching historical records related to the Punjabi language and its various scripts, including the development of its numerical system.

As part of Sikh Siyasat’s special series on the origins of the Punjabi language, journalist Mandeep Singh speaks with S. Bikkar Singh about his extensive research and findings. S. Bikkar Singh maintains that the concept of zero was invented in the Punjab region of the subcontinent. To support this claim, he cites several rare historical records he accessed during his research.
