Bhopal, India: A man named Anees Khan was beaten up by Bhopal police personnel on Saturday (Oct. 04) inside Bhopal court complex. Anees Khan is an under-trial persons who is facing charges under the Arms Act.
The police personnel ‘in action’ were caught on camera at a district court in Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh). They were raining blows on Anees Khan who was in their custody.
On Saturday, after coming to the court for a hearing, Khan had apparently refused to enter the courtroom. That was when the police personnel accompanying him began using force. They stripped and beat the man and dragged him inside the courtroom.
State home minister Babulal Gaur is in Haryana for campaigning ahead of the assembly elections in the state and a NDTV report says: “No one in the state police or administration was available to comment on the incident”.
Congress’ state vice president Manak Agarwal said, “This kind of brutality had not happened in the British period even. The Madhya Pradesh police is responsible. Officials who removed his clothes and did this should be suspended”.
The incident beating of an under-trial in court complex highlights the treatment of Indian police with persons in their custody.
