Amritsar, Punjab (June 21, 2014): All India Sikh Students Federation (Peermohamamd) has reportedly urged the Akal Takhat jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh to convene a general gathering over the issue of Haryana Government’s proposed decision to set up a separate Shiromani Gurudwara Parbhandhak Committee (SGPC).

AISSF president Karnail Singh Peer Mohammed said that a section of Sikhs in Haryana wanted a separate SGPC in the state for which a convention has been called on July 6 at Kaithal.

SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar and his political master Parkash Singh Badal, Cheif Minister of Punjab, has already opposed the proposed decision of the Haryana Government.

Parkash Singh Badal recently met India’s Home Minister Rajnath Singh and urged the centre to desist Haryana Government from setting up a separate SGPC.

Karnail Singh Peermohammed said that a delegation of AISSF would meet Akal Takhat Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh on June 23 seeking convention of a gathering to listen to the grievances of Sikhs from different parts of country.

Besides, the congregation should also deliberate on All India Sikh Gurudwara Act and the Nanakshahi calendar issue, he said.
