Sikh Genocide 1984: Delhi Police Sent Summons to 2 Accused persons after more than 3 Decades

New Delhi: More than three decades after the genocidal massacre of Sikhs took place in Delhi, the police have issued fresh summons to two people for alleged their involvement with the case. Thousands of Sikhs and boys were bludgeoned, slashed and burned to death throughout India in first week of November 1984.
A case pertaining to massacre of Sikhs in south Delhi’s Mahipalpur area was closed in 1986 after the then investigation officer had submitted an “untraced” report and the person who was accused in relation to murder of two Sikhs namely Hardev Singh and Avtar Singh was acquitted by the trial court.

As per media report the Delhi police have now booked two residents of Mahipalpur- Naresh Sehrawat and Yashpal Singh in relation to this case. Both are facing various charges including criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly, rioting, weapon possession, attempt to murder and murder.
The case was reportedly registered on the directions of Delhi High Court.
Three decades of Impunity and denial of Justice:
It is notable that high ups in the Congress party and the Indian administration perpetrated the Sikh genocidal violence against the Sikhs in November 1984, in which thousands of Sikhs were massacred throughout India. Culprits of the genocidal massacres of Nov. 1984 have enjoyed impunity and high political posts during past three decades where as the victims of the massacre were left to perish as the justice was blatantly denied in these cases.
