Panthic Unity

In current times of global and regional instability, it is crucial for the Sikhs to establish internal processes and platforms for discussion. The Subaad Sabha, held during Holla Mohalla, has emerged as one such platform. Drawing inspiration from the Sikh historical tradition of engaging in internal dialogue during specific annual gatherings, the Subaad Sabha has been organized by the Panth Sewak Jatha Doaba for the past several years.
In this interview with journalist Mandeep Singh, Sikh Siyasat editor Parmjeet Singh Gazi argues that wider sections of the Sikh community need to build consensus on reviving the Panth’s historic traditions of collective decision-making and institutional leadership. He also stresses the need for a forward-looking political document that can guide Sikh efforts to uphold their right to political self-determination in an increasingly uncertain geopolitical environment.
Journalist Gurpal Singh speaks with Paramjit Singh Mand, Working President of Dal Khalsa, on the relevance of the 1986 Sarbat Khalsa in the present day, and on why Sikhs must revive the process of collective decision-making and evolve joint leadership in response to current challenges and the changing international, regional, and geopolitical landscape.
