Baba Jagtar Singh Karsewa Apologises For Damaging Historic Darshani Deori of Tarn Taran Sahib

Tarn Taran: Facing wrath of the Sikh sangat attempting to demolish the historic Darshani Deori of Darbar Sahib (Tarn Taran), Baba Jagtar Singh run Karsewa issued a written apology letter today. It may be recalled that on intervening night of 30 and 31 March 2019, the activists belonging to this Karsewa had started demolishing the historic Darshani Deori that was built by Kanwar Naunihal Singh, grand son of Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjeet Singh during the Khalsa Raj. One becoming aware of this the local Sikh sangat had opposed the move but members of the Sikh sangat were attacked by the Karsewa activists. Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) had alerted the global Sikh community in this regard in mid-night news update.

Due to strong stand taken by the local Sikh sangat against the demolition of the historic heritage, the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) announced to suspend Darbar Sahib Tarn Taran manager and to evict Baba Jagtar Singh Karsewa from the Tarn Taran Sahib Karsewa.

In a letter issued today (1 April 2019), Mahinder Singh, who was administrator of Baba Jagtar Singh Karsewa at Tarn Taran Sahib claimed that they had started the Karsewa as per SGPC resolution number 550 dated 12 July 2018. The SGPC, however, maintains that after the Sikh Sangat opposed the Karsewa of historic Darshani Deori in September 2018 the aforesaid resolution was withdrawn in October 2018.

In his letter Mahinder Singh said that the act of Karsewa Jathedars to start the Karsewa of Darshani Deori, as per the SGPC resolution number 550 dated 12-07-2018, enraged the Sikh sangat; and they, sangat of Dera Karsewa and the Jathedars, apologise to the Sikh sangat. He said that their Karsewa would consult Sikh sangat and Sikh Sampardais in future before starting the Karsewa of any historic building.
