Moga: No proceedings could take place in a Moga court today as Jagtar Singh Jaggi and other persons in judicial custody were not produced before the court in Baghapurana case.
“Today was hearing of case FIR no. 193/2016 in which British citizen Jagtar Singh Jaggi and others were arrested by the Punjab police but no proceedings could take place as Jagtar Singh Jaggi, Dharminder Singh Gugni and Anil Kala (confined in Maximum security jail, Nabha), Ramandeep Singh Bagga (confined in Ropar Jail), Hardeep Singh Shera (confined in Kapurthala jail) and Taljit Singh Jimmy and Jagjit Singh (confined in Sangrur Jail) were not presented before the court”, defence counsel Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) over phone.
“The police cited alleged ‘security reason’ behind not presenting them in the court” said Advocate Manjhpur, while adding that the police requested the court to hold hearing through video conferencing but the judge directed them to ensure personal presence of all concerned persons in judicial custody on next hearing.
The case is being heard by Additional Sessions judge Charanjit Arora who fixed July 12 as next court date for hearing in this case. Defence counsel Advocate J. S. Chadda was also present during today’s court hearing.
The trial is yet to begin as the court is yet to hear arguments on the chargesheet presented by the prosecution in this case.
