Bhai Mohkam Singh led USM meets CM Badal to remind him of Dharam Youth Morcha demands

Chandigarh/ Punjab (August 05, 2014): After 32 years of launching of Dharam Youdh Morcha, the Sikh activists of United Sikh Movement led by Bhai Mohkam Singh on Monday (August 04, 2014) met Punjab chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to remind him the resolution of Anandpur Sahib.

A minor clash was witnessed between the activists and the police near Punjab chief minister residence in Chandigarh after they were stopped by Chandigarh police.

The movement leaders and activists were demanding implementation of Anandpur Sahib Resolution and wanted to meet Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal to hand over a memorandum to remind him about the resolution. Later, five of them were allowed to meet CM.

According to “Punjab Timeline”, USM chief Bhai Mohkam Singh said, “Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal had present him for arrest on August 4, 1982 under Dharam Youdh Morcha for the implementation of Anadpur Sahib Resolution but forget it later on after coming to the power.
We visited him to give the memorandum to remember him his concerns”.

“The police had stopped our activists and there was a minor clash but the police allowed five of us to meet Badal”, he added.

“We had given the memorandum to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi last year on the same day (August 4) and we chose to hand over the same to Badal this time, who had started the movement of implementation of Anandpur Sahib Resolution”, he further added.

Lashing out at Badal family, Mohkam Singh questioned, “Was the morcha and martyrdom of many people for just to make a single family economically strong and politically well-off”.

“Badal has gained power thrice while Barnala also once but both did nothing for the resolution. Once they got political power, they forgot Panthic agenda”, he pointed out.

Anandpur Sahib Resolution includes many demands related to Punjab. Handing over Chandigarh to Punjab, Waters of Punjab, All India Gurdwara Act, Punjabi speaking areas, federal status to Punjab and other traditional demands.

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Sant Jarnail Singh Binderanwale had launched Dharam Youdh Morcha for the implementation and Badal was first to present himself for arrest. Many people gave their lives for the implementation of the resolution.
