Southall: ‘Gatka Association of India’ today strongly urged to the Punjabi community to support first former Sikh mayor of Gravesend, UK Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi wholeheartedly who is contesting from Slough constituency in the ensuing parliamentary elections. Congratulating S. Dhesi on his victory in Kent county elections held recently, Harjeet Singh Grewal, President of Gatka Association of India said it is right opportunity for the natives especially the Sikh diaspora in UK to send a hard worker, young leader and first turbaned Sikh representative in the British parliament.
In a statement Gatka Association chief said Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi had done a lot for people especially the Kent County during his past tenure as mayor and played an active role in establishing a magnificent Gurudwara sahib at Gravesend. He added that “Punjabi community” in UK and in Punjab speaks high of him as he has always upheld the high spirits among the diaspora.
Outlining the contributions and achievements of Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi for the community, Grewal, who is also chairman of International Sikh Martial Art Academy, informed that he is heading UK Gatka Federation since five years and organizing sub-continent level Gatka championships successfully every year in different cities of Britain besides promoting other games also.
