Chandigarh: In a latest fallout preceding the violent clash of student activists at Ramjas college in Delhi last week the Akhil Bharti Vidyarathi Parisad (ABVP) a student body of the Rastriya Sawamsewak Sangh (RSS) has issued threat including that of rape to Gurmehar Kaur a student at Delhi University (DU) as she outrightly spoke out against the repressive attitude of the organisation on the social media.
“I’ve been getting a lot of threats on social media. When you open the profile picture that I changed, you keep seeing there are people threatening me and calling me an anti-nationalist. I think it’s very scary when people threaten you with violence or with rape. There is this guy called Rahul and he’s given a very detailed explanation in a comment saying how he would like to rape me. That is very scary,” she was quoted saying from an interview she gave to a media channel.
On the other hand the ABVP’s spokesperson on this issue reportedly said “Wherever we see that the integrity of our country is at stake, ABVP will protest.”
