Punjab Farmer Returns Land to Nature: 300 Plants Planted For Small Forest in Village Jagatpur

East Punjab has 3.67% of its’ area under forest. Most of the forest is concentrated northern parts of the state which fall close Shavlik range of hills. Rest of Punjab has negligible tree cover. Agriculture and Environment Awareness Center is spreading awareness requesting people of Punjab to plant more trees . AEAC request farmers to return some portion of their land to nature and plant saplings to create small forest covers. S. Karamjit Singh of Jagatpur village (near Adampur) in Jalandhar district contacted Agriculture and Environment Center for planting a small forest on his land. He spared 1 Kanal of land for this small forest. Sewadars of Karsewa Khadoor Sahib, led by Baba Davinder Singh, planted 300 saplings for 169th Guru Nanak Memorial Forest on 4 July 2022. AEAC team members, S. Sukhdev Singh and S. Harinderpreet Singh, were also present when the saplings were planted in the fields of S. Karamjit Singh.
