Amritsar: A new faction of the Shiromani Akali Dal, the Punjab-based Sikh political party, was formally launched on 11 August 2025 during a Delegate Conference held at Burj Akali Phoola Singh in Amritsar.
During this conference, Giani Harpreet Singh, former SGPC-appointed acting Jathedar of the Akal Takht, was selected as the President of the Shiromani Akali Dal. A supervisory body called the Panthic Council—described as religious in nature—was also announced, with Bibi Satwant Kaur appointed as its head.

A proposal for the formation of a Working Committee was also presented, though no nominations or appointments were made during the conference itself.
The gathering further adopted several resolutions, covering three broad areas- Punjab’s political issues, Sikh religious matters and internal organization and functioning of the party.
The copies of these resolutions are being shared below for the information of readers of the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN).
