Sant Samaj leaders alleged before Sukhbir Badal that Giani Balwant Singh Nanadgarh had violated the decision of Akal Takht Sahib by favoring original Nanakshahi Calendar. They also asked Sukhbir Badal to get Nanakshahi Calendar replaced with Bikrami Calendar.

Sukhbir Badal, president of Punjab’ ruling party, reportedly did not make any assurance to Sant Samaj leaders on these issues.

There are reports that SGPC, controlled by Badal Dal, is planning to remove or suspend Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh.
