Sikh religious Jorh-Melas once carried a deep spiritual and religious fervor. The recitation of Gurbani, Kirtan, the narration of Sikh history through Dhadi, Kavishari, Katha, and Kavi Darbars, along with Sewa and meaningful discussions among Sikh jathas on vital issues, formed the core of these sacred gatherings.
In December 2025, the SGPC-appointed acting Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, along with other Singh Sahiban, issued a directive banning the portrayal of Sikh Gurus, Shaheeds, and Gursikhs in films—whether through human actors or animation, cartoons, or similar media.
An important meeting of the five Sikh High Priests was held yesterday at Sri Akal Takht Sahib under the leadership of the Acting Jathedar, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj, appointed by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).
