Media Reports Say Nawanshehr Police Arrest 5th Youth [Copy of FIR Attached]

Nawanshehar: According to certain media reports, the Punjab police belonging to Nawanshehr police have arrested another person in connection with a case registered at Banga Sadar police station against Sikh youth who were active over social media. The police is alleging that they were “agents” of Pakistani agency ISI as they were supporting so-termed “Referendum 2020” an online campaign seeking right to self determination for Punjab.
A report in Punjabi vernacular owned by a major Hindi print outlet reported that the police was not confirming the arrest of fifth person but on being approached by the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN), the Nawanshehr police confirmed that the police has made another arrest in this case.
Youths Recently Arrested by the Nawanshehr police
Talking to the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) over phone SHO Sadar Banga Rajeev Kumar said that the investigation of the matter has been transferred to the CIA staff for the investigations. CIA staff (Nawanshehr) incharge Inspector Surinder Chaand told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) over phone that one Kapil Dev s/o Surinder resident of Banga was arrested last night and his family members were informed about his arrest.
SHO Sadar Banga said that an FIR No. 26 was registered on April 02, 2018 under sections 436, 511 and 120B of IPC.
The copy of FIR accessed by the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) reveals that the FIR was registered at 21:20 hrs under sections 436 (Mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to destroy house, etc.) and 511 (Punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment) of the Indian Penal Code.
Earlier, the Jalandhar and Nawanshahr officials asserted that they arrested Manvir Singh, Jaspreet Singh, Sukhwinder Singh and Randhir at a naka at Gunachaur village on Monday in a joint action.
Quattro, who were initially arrested, are on police remand for 4 days. Meanwhile, the FIR registered in this regard at Banga police station is still not available on the website of Nawansher Police under section of FIRs registered at Banga Sadar Police station.
